Friends of St Mary & St Nicolas
Friends of St Mary & St Nicolas is an organisation formed in 1986 to promote the appreciation of our 13th Century Church as a building of historical and architectural interest. The Friends continue to raise funds to help us preserve the fabric, ornaments and furnishings of the church and to enhance our worship.
Some of the projects that have been undertaken include:-
Floodlighting the exterior of the church
Renovation of St George's Chapel reredos and First World War plaques
Friends' stained glass window in the Chancel
Pew-seat covers
Cleaning the Christus Rex statue
Cleaning the Hatchments
Repairing and repainting the North gates
The Friends also provide invaluable help by supporting and encouraging the use of our Church for concerts, art and music competitions, and many other activites during the year.
Conservation and re-decoration are, however, on-going problems and there is much work still to be done.

Friends contribute an annual subscription which is kept as low as possible. Members are kept informed about all activities via a regular Newsletter.
