Parish notes and news
- This year our Harvest Appeal will see us working alongside Spalding Parish Church of England Day School and St Paul's Community School in support of Seeds For Africa. Seeds for Africa aims to help African families and communities by the provision of indigenous seeds, agricultural equipment and relevant technical advice, giving individuals and communities a future, not just a temporary answer. Please pick up an information leaflet at the back of the church.
- There will be a Traidcraft stall today with a larger range of products than usual. Christmas catalogues are also available and Kay King welcomes orders by 25th October for delivery at the next All Age Worship on 2nd November. She is unable to order on your behalf after this date as she will be away during November, but you can place later orders direct with Traidcraft. Divine Chocolate advent calendars will be on sale next month.
- Choir Open Evening, will be on Friday 17 October at 7.30 pm in church. Please come along and show how much we support and appreciate the work of the choristers.
- October’s edition of our Tidings magazine is now available; please pick up your copy from the back of church.
- The Churches Together preacher exchange on Sunday 19 October brings the Revd Jennifer Park, the superintendent Minister of the South Holland Methodist Circuit to M&N to preside and preach at 9.30 am, with her colleague, the Revd David Curran, preaching at 11.00 am. David Baldwin, a Methodist local preacher leads the 11 am service at St Paul’s, whilst Tim goes to Broad Street Methodist Church for their morning service.
- The Children’s Society. I apologies for not being able to arrange a box opening this year. If you would like to have your box opened please would you contact me on 725152 or take your box into the Parish Office, many thanks, Jill Bradley.
- Please note that the Church Shop will be selling Christmas cards and Christmas wrapping paper from today, cards, buy one get one free, come along and pick up a bargain!
- The next PCC Meeting will be tomorrow, Monday 6 October at 7.30 pm in the Maples Room.
- Quiz Evening, Wednesday 19 November starting at 7.00 pm in St Nicolas Hall. Teams of 4 to 8 players and individuals are welcome to come along and join in with others to make up teams. Tickets will be £4 per person to include a Ploughman’s Supper and will be available from the Parish Office in October. All proceeds to the cost of flowers for next year’s Flower Festival.
- STAND UP is a global mobilisation to end poverty and inequality and for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Last year, 43.7 million people joined Stand Up worldwide, setting a new world record. This year, we are asking people to Stand Up and Take Action, to ensure governments worldwide hear our demands to end poverty and inequality. Help us make this year's Stand Up the biggest mobilisation against poverty ever: Join us in LINCOLN at 2 pm on the 18th October in the Lincoln Prayer Café at St Mary-Le-Wigford Church (near the train station) as we STAND UP to be counted.

- Please note that, due to repairs on the North Gates, there will be no access from Church Street for approximately 6 weeks starting from 29 September.
